My little brother, well I say little but he is taller than me, has had the world on his shoulders this past week and I for one have been extremely impressed with how he has handled himself.
My pastor is fond of saying that people are like toothpaste. The outside can look stylist and pretty but what is on the inside–what counts–is not easily seen. When life squeezes us, then the toothpaste comes out. Or in the case of us, our real self comes out. The self that most people do not see. But it is this toothpaste–the stuff that makes us, well, us–that is most important and the area that we all strive to work on to make better.
Recently, the world turned upside down, shook all about, flipped inside out, collapsed in on itself and then exploded all while my baby brother was standing on it. While I can not share what happened, I can say that it was absolutely terrible and no one should have to face these kinds of situations. I do not envy his position nor would I want to be in it. And to be honest, I am not entirely sure I am strong enough to be able to handle it at all. And yet, I have been standing by my brother as he has weathered this storm and remained strong. And I am impressed. And I am so proud of him!
Now, if the Lord would help my entire family out by halting all the impeding world shattering drama and rain down blessings for say the rest of my life, that would be great!
Love you Bob!
