A long while ago, I received a vision from the Lord. In this vision, there was an older man, who I later found out to be God, who was sitting next to a lake. While I watched, I saw that he was taking pieces of coal out of the lake and placing them on a fire that was in front of him. After a time, he would place the piece of coal, now flaming, back on the water where it would not go out and about floating over to ignite other pieces of coal and burn up any debris in the lake. I thought God was showing me something about people reaching people and the power of evangelism. But God had a different message in mind.
He took me high above the lake and I could see a lot of pieces of coal on fire. However, overall, it was a very very small percentage that was on fire. Again I thought I knew the mind of God and told him I understand that he was upset that more were not coming to him and sharing their faith. God shook his head negatively. He then pointed to a single piece of coal. I looked and even though I was at a great distance I could clearly see this single piece of flaming coal. I looked back to God and he motioned with his head to continue to watch. I returned my gaze and watched as the flame on the piece of coal dimmed, flickered and then went out. I looked at God and he was weeping as he said, “That is what I am upset about!”
God does not desire that any should perish and in fact has great plans for us. However, some times, no matter how hard God tries, no matter how hard other Christian’s try and no matter what family and friends do, a person chooses the darkness over the light and their fire goes out. In those moments, God weeps on his throne. Today the bright future of an individual, the fiery passion of a person, the burning power in a man’s spirit has gone out or at least grown so dim that none can see the light anymore, God is weeping, and so am I.
The hope in the midst of this raging storm is that God is not done yet. As long as a person is still breathing, God is still attempting to move heaven and earth to get their attention and their life and return a fire in them. It will take mountain moving miraculous power, but that is what God excels at. So I lift up my prayers for this light that it may again burn bright no matter where it is placed and become and grow into a person that God would be proud to call his own.
