For those of us who love to game, design games, or are a game designer wannabee (see my post on designing games), this weekend is the big hoo-haa!!. This week and weekend is GENCON. Beginning yesterday and running through Sunday, this is the convention event of the year where publishers present their games and have goodies to hand out while gamers flock from all over the world to see what is new from their favorite publishers and what is up and coming. And I am not there
Not that I have ever gone in the past. But as the post I referenced above proves, I have a desire to develop games. I believe I have a knack for creating playable and enjoyable games. I have just lacked the juice to actually get a game into print. I have been very close in the past but in the end nothing. And with GENCON here, I am disappointed.
So, why? I developed two fully playable games that I was unable to secure funding for while I watched other people successfully get their games to market. I have put in a bunch of time and sweat and spun my wheels. I am not complaining as much as venting because I just don’t understand. And to top it off, I have several ideas in the cooker that if I could get some artists behind me and computer programmers that are skilled at mobile games, I could have a whole line of games out by GENCON 2014. I could have my own booth. It would be awesome. But at least as of this moment in time, not yet.
Who knows what the future holds but I think it would be awful cool if by this time next year I started a gaming design company that could at least go to GENCON. Pray that happens for me
