So, yesterday after having read a review of a movie that sounded interesting to me, I decided to watch it on NetFlix. I found the movie and put it on. As I began to watch, I clearly heard God say, “Turn it off!”
The review that I read was very careful to not spoil the plotline. In addition, their vague description of what occurred during the movie and their claim that this was the best movie ever of that particular genre, got me intrigued. Couple this with the fact that the movie had all kinds of trouble actually getting finished because of issues making the film look right, hooked me into wanting to watch.
I was barely three minutes in the movie when God first spoke. However, he was speaking more at a whisper and I dismissed it. The next moment came about 15 minutes into the movie when it started to become evident why the movie was rated R. This time I clearly heard and recognized that it was God. But if you know me, when God speaks to me two very interesting things happen. First, He seems to always speak to me when he has to tell me no or correct me for something I am doing wrong. Second, I seem to always argue with him although I never win so you would think I would learn the lesson. But no. I argued.
While I was arguing, another five or so minutes passed and at this point, the main characters take out pentagrams and worship the devil. This was a very obvious scene that the whole purpose of the plot of this movie was that they were devil worshipers and participated in baiting and sacrificing people for the devil. WOW was that a shocker to me. I immediately turned it off and put on a Christian based film.
One thing I learned, when God tells me something it is apparent that he knows what he is talking about and I should listen to him the first time. At least this time around, I did get the movie off and removed from my instant queue so that I did not invite into my house something that would have been very bad. Praise God for protecting not only me but my family.
