If all had gone according to plan in my life right now I would be married to at least six wives, been a firefighter, astronaut, movie star, and billionaire owning not only a private jet, several vacation homes and my own personal island but several Batman style gadgets and Ironman suits. Of course, this all depends on which point in my life you asked me what my plan was. But one thing I have learned over and over again is that things do not always go according to plan and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
For example, when I was around six years old or so, I wanted to be a firefighter. Of course, this is a very important and valuable job that very brave men and women risk their lives on every day. But if I had done that, then I would never have wound up in Texas. I would not have wound up going to SUNY Plattsburgh, even if it was briefly, and that would have meant that I would not have met my wife. While being a firefighter is an amazing job, I would much rather have met my soul-mate and have a lifetime of love with her.
When I was around thirteen years old, I wanted to be a pilot and an astronaut. I even joined the U.S. Air Force for a brief period. It did not work out and ultimately for the best. Had I completed my training, I was scheduled to be shipped off to Germany and this was shortly before we had problems in the Middle East. Again, that means that I would not have gone to the college that I met my wife at. And while I would still love to travel into space, I wouldn’t give up being married to the love of my life for it.
So, not all of my so called brilliant plans have worked out the way I wanted or expected them to, but what God has worked out for me has been much more than I could have imagined. I have an amazing wife, awesome kids and a good job with some workings in the work to soon have my own business. All in all, I would say that God really does know what he is doing. Now, if He would just heal my ankle and get this over with that would be great
